Meghan Markle has an opportunity to create great meaning in her role as a royal princess.

She will have the greatest impact if she leads through her “authenstory” which is the journey of her authentic self as it navigates this human existence.

The authentic self is sometimes called “the seat of the soul.” As such, authentic self-leadership is a lifetime practice that can give Markle the courage to bear all things — a strength she will undeniably need in her position.

Far beyond a regular story or even a princess fairytale, an authenstory is where the authentic self reckons with the stories of the mind and the ego to find a spiritual space of higher meaning and purpose regardless of one’s circumstances, be they fairytale or nightmare.

Markle is already influencing current and future generations as a princess in innumerable ways not afforded to many. Coming from humble beginnings, she knows more than a bit about what it takes to shift from feelings of fear, sadness, shame, and anger to feelings of curiosity, compassion, kindness, gratitude, and inner joy. She has probably learned to do this in ways that are fairly sustainable or she wouldn’t be where she is today.

Leading others is more effective when you first embrace the authentic leadership of yourself. The Authenstory Way of self-leadership is a spiritual practice, regardless of religion, that brings connectivity from a place of love, versus a place of fear, in ways that also fuel the soul.

Despite what those around her are probably demanding, her first order of business is to practice staying spiritually connected through her authentic self.  Authentic self-leaders belong first to the authentic self, which is the undeniable connection to a universal wisdom and a higher power always available to them and known by many as God.

In the Authenstory Way, Meghan Markle is never alone in her leadership. She can always feel at home in a mighty connection with her highest wisdom. This practice will make her exquisitely positioned to lead others in the most powerful of ways.

Authentic self-leadership is when you align your everyday living, including all of your intimate actions, thoughts, and feelings, with the authentic self and its connection to your higher wisdom. This is your “Authenstory”, and it’s foundational to authentic self-leadership.

In the Authenstory Way, your authentic self reckons with the story of the ego/mind to find a greater meaning and gift for you, even in the midst of dire adversity. Consider Viktor Frankl’s “Man’s Search for Meaning” about his personal experience in the concentration camp at Auschwitz or “The Diary of Anne Frank.”

When a story is authentic, it stands the test of time as opposed to a story of the ego or mind. All great marketers know this already and the closer they get to creating authentic stories, the more powerful their impact. The more authentic the story or message, the more clearly we see ourselves and feel emotionally moved to take action, often even when our rational minds are unsure of why. But often marketers tell stories that come from a place of fear rather than from love as in an authenstory.

Meghan Markle has a unique opportunity to change the world far beyond her role as a royal princess.  She has the potential to be Queen of the World by leading in The Authenstory Way. Other women have done this through the ages: Consider the biblical account of Esther the Queen and the more recent day Mother Teresa.

Not only does a princess have this opportunity available to her, but so do you. Everyone is a leader and influencer not only of others but also of themselves.  For greater influence, consider leading in The Authenstory Way.

There is more is to come about creating greater meaning in your life through your self-leadership journey, The Authenstory Way, so stay tuned.
