On that windy and frigid Manhattan evening, folks in the theater line were pre-occupied with simply staying warm. No one seemed to notice a young sidewalk musician as he shivered in the cold. You could barely hear him singing above the murmur of the crowd.

However, when the singer began an old Beatles tune, “Let It Be”, a woman stepped out from the line and into the wind. As she made her way towards him, she began to sing along. Others along her path soon also joined in.

The musician smiled brightly and sang well for the crowd. “Thank you very much, miss,” he expressed appreciatively between the lines of his song.

It remains uncertain who felt warmer in that moment, he or the woman. Both could be seen glowing from a center of joy. Genuine interest expresses kindness when acted upon. It sends out a love that returns straight back to your heart.

Something truly magical can happen when you notice and engage, especially when you come from a place of love, kindness, curiosity and presence.

Your leadership with a kindness of presence communicates to others you truly care.  It only takes moments to engage with heartfelt connection to others.
